Guided Walks in Staffordshire, Shropshire and the UK Mountains.

Chris09344026072020.jpg

My guided walks in Staffordshire and Shropshire offer you the chance to join an organised walk in the best locations I know.

Additionally you will find that most of the walks I offer are themed, providing an additional dimension to your walk and something of interest or challenge for all!

Over many years of exploring I have found the nicest walks, the best cafes, the routes that avoid large numbers of people and the ones that offer the best views when the sun is shining.

I do all the hard work so that you can just enjoy your day, the fresh air, exercise and good company – it’s hard to beat! As well as offering the advertised walks in Staffordshire and Shropshire, I can facilitate similar group walks anywhere in the UK. So if there is something specific you’d like to do as a group, then please feel free to contact me and we can discuss your plan.

I lead all of the walks myself. I’m qualified as a Mountain Leader, First Aider, I have Enhanced DBS status, I hold appropriate public liability/indemnity insurance and I’m a big fan of tea and cakes!

Cannock Chase in South Staffordshire is a 26 square mile designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The landscape dates back thousands of years and was a medieval royal hunting forest for William the Conqueror in 1086. The herds of Fallow Deer you see today are believed descendants from the original herd introduced in Norman times.

In more recent history Cannock Chase’s prime location and lines of communication were of significant logistical importance in World War 1. This led to its then landowner the Earl of Lichfield granting permission for two large military training camps to be built. Each was designed to hold 20,000 troops and in total 500,000 soldiers passed through them during the war.
